Culpeper Youth Rugby was started in the Fall of 2011 by a group of rugby enthusiasts who wished to bring the game of rugby to the young people of Culpeper and the surrounding counties. From the start of our first season through the present we strive to provide the highest quality youth rugby experience to our members and community.
The club offers a variety of opportunities for players to learn and develop the great sport of rugby. For Pre-K through High School athletes we offer tag and tackle rugby during the spring and summer months. Our programs are designed to grow players up into rugby – we emphasize player recruitment at a young age and work to develop abilities for players as they age into new programs. If our club does not have a level or age of play suitable for your player, we will work with you to find a club that best accommodates.
Our club and coaching philosophies focus on players having fun in a safe environment. We strive to challenge every player to perform to the best of his or her ability while instilling respect for all. Our coaches work to provide organized practice and match plans geared towards developing healthy players that can accomplish the task at hand as well those down the road.
Rugby is a sport that is welcoming to all – there is no such thing as a player that is too small or too big to play rugby. Culpeper Youth Rugby welcomes all players of all skill levels to experience the greatness of rugby. We simply ask that players commit to doing their best both on and off the pitch.
In addition to the programs our club offers we strive to provide extra opportunities. Our club has developed close relationships with many of the Collegiate and Adult rugby clubs in our area. This results in our members being able to receive coaching, mentoring and other benefits from these clubs. We also provide club members the chance to see professional and international rugby.
Community is of the utmost importance to our program. We encourage our rugby families to play a part in our community and give back. Every year we participate in a variety of community service programs in the Culpeper region.
